Greetings from Portland, Oregon. As of July 2022, I am retired from the MME Department at Portland State University. For the near term I will maintain this web site for folks who may be interested in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, numerical methods innovative laboratory teaching methods, hands-on project-based learning, promoting innovation and building pathways to college through invention education.

Arduino Notes: In Fall 2020 I started a web site for the Adafruit Feather nRF52840 Sense, which is a very compact and powerful Arduino (and Circuit Python) board that has several built-in sensors. You may also want to check out my notes on using Adafruit's Circuit Playground Express

Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer: If you're interested in numerical modeling of fluids and heat transfer, look at the on-line lecture notes and toy MATLAB codes in 1D and 2D for my class on applied CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). If you're interested in laboratory techniques related to the cooling of electronic equipment, look at the (old, but still good) lecture notes and lab assignments for my class on thermal management measurements.

MATLAB: If you have arrived at this page looking for information on MATLAB, you will be interested in my book Numerical Methods with MATLAB, and the old class ME 352: Numerical Methods in Engineering or the newer, lighter version, ME 350: Programming and Numerical Methods for Engineers.
