BSME Admission Process and Requirements

Students in the BSME program must be registered students of Portland State University, and must maintain good standing in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. PSU maintains a web site with information on admission to the University. Information about admission to the Maseeh college is also available on-line. Students who have taken relevant courses at other institutions should consult the on-line information about transfer admission.

Students may declare Mechanical Engineering as their major at any time after enrolling at Portland State University. However, Mechanical Engineering majors must be formally admitted before they will (1) be allowed to enroll in restricted upper-division courses and (2) be graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program.

Application forms may be obtained from the Dean's Office, Maseeh College of Engineering and Applied Science, Suite 500 in the Engineering Building, or by telephoning 503.725.4631.

Mechanical engineering students are eligible for several scholarships. Refer to the Scholarship Handbook (available in the Dean's Office) for a detailed list of scholarship opportunities. Application forms for scholarships are available in the CECS Dean's Office and online.
